Cathodic Electrodeposition Coatings

While cathodic electrodeposition (KTL) coatings provide corrosion protection, they must often be removed before welding or bonding operations. 3D Robotik’s robotic laser cleaning systems remove KTL layers from surfaces with precision, speed, and zero contact—improving weld quality, preserving surface integrity, and eliminating the need for chemicals or abrasives.

Advantages of Laser-Based KTL Removal

  • Non-contact and selective removal: Only the coating is vaporized; the base metal is unaffected
  • High-precision surface preparation: Ideal for localized weld zones or adhesive bonding areas
  • No chemicals or abrasives: Eco-friendly and clean technology
  • Flexible robotic control: Easily adapts to complex part geometries
  • Fully automatable: Integrates into high-speed production lines

Integrated Robotic Cleaning Cells

3D Robotik cleaning cells combine a 6-axis robot arm, fiber laser head, vacuum filtration unit, and Class 1 safety enclosure. With vision assistance, laser parameters are adjusted dynamically for accurate and efficient paint removal from target zones.
